A customer is prequalified for the MOR-EV Used rebate, but the used vehicle they want to purchase is not on the eligible vehicles list. Can the dealer still give them the MOR-EV Used rebate at the time of purchase?

Generally, yes. If the used vehicle meets the following criteria:

  • Final purchase price or gross capitalized cost is $40,000 or less minus registration fees, documentation fees, and sales and use taxes;
  • Model year is at least 2 years prior to the current calendar year;
  • Qualifies as a zero-emission vehicle per 225 CMR 26.00;

Then the dealer can issue the rebate at the point of sale. However, the dealer will need to contact the MOR-EV program administrator to have the vehicle added to the eligible list.
